Ingredients

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or herbs (optional, for garnish)

For the Baked Camembert:

  • 1 whole round Camembert cheese (in wooden box)
  • 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
  • A few sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme
  • 1 tbsp honey or olive oil (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

1. Make the Bread Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead until a soft dough forms (about 8–10 minutes).
  3. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. Shape the Love Heart Bread:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Punch down the dough and divide into equal small pieces.
  3. Roll each piece into a ball and place them in a heart shape on a parchment-lined baking tray, leaving a round space in the middle for the Camembert.
  4. Brush the dough with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds or herbs if using.

3. Prepare the Camembert:

  1. Remove any plastic wrapping and return the cheese to its wooden box (without the lid).
  2. Score the top of the cheese in a crisscross pattern.
  3. Insert garlic slices and rosemary into the cuts. Drizzle with olive oil or honey and add a pinch of black pepper.

4. Bake Everything Together:

  1. Place the prepared Camembert in the center of the heart-shaped bread ring.
  2. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is soft and gooey.

5. Serve:

  • Serve immediately while warm. Tear off pieces of the heart bread and dip into the melty cheese center.
