Ingredients
For the Bread:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¾ cup warm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds or herbs (optional, for garnish)
For the Baked Camembert:
- 1 whole round Camembert cheese (in wooden box)
- 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
- A few sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme
- 1 tbsp honey or olive oil (optional)
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Make the Bread Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead until a soft dough forms (about 8–10 minutes).
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
2. Shape the Love Heart Bread:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide into equal small pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball and place them in a heart shape on a parchment-lined baking tray, leaving a round space in the middle for the Camembert.
- Brush the dough with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds or herbs if using.
3. Prepare the Camembert:
- Remove any plastic wrapping and return the cheese to its wooden box (without the lid).
- Score the top of the cheese in a crisscross pattern.
- Insert garlic slices and rosemary into the cuts. Drizzle with olive oil or honey and add a pinch of black pepper.
4. Bake Everything Together:
- Place the prepared Camembert in the center of the heart-shaped bread ring.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is soft and gooey.
5. Serve:
- Serve immediately while warm. Tear off pieces of the heart bread and dip into the melty cheese center.
