- 1 large sweet onion (like Vidalia), sliced into 1/4-inch rings
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred for extra crunch)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking spray or oil mist
Instructions
- Prepare the Coating Stations:
- In one bowl, add flour.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix with buttermilk.
- In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the Onion Rings:
- Dip each onion ring first in flour (shake off excess),
- then in the egg mixture,
- and finally coat in the breadcrumb mix.
- Press gently to make sure the crumbs stick well.
- Preheat the Air Fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Air Fry the Onion Rings:
- Lightly spray the basket with cooking oil.
- Arrange onion rings in a single layer (you may need to cook in batches).
- Spray the tops lightly with oil.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve:
- Enjoy hot with your favorite dipping sauce like ranch, ketchup, or spicy mayo!
