Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup melted butter (plus extra for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Stir in the shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then whisk in the milk and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined — do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for about 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool slightly, then brush the top with a little extra melted butter if desired.
- Slice and enjoy warm for breakfast!
