Irresistible Warm Milk Bread Rolls – Just 1 Egg, Flour, Milk, Sugar & Yeast!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened, optional for richer flavor)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough:
Beat in the egg and salt. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Add softened butter if using.
  3. Knead:
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. (Or use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 6–7 minutes.)
  4. First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the Rolls:
Punch down the dough, divide into 8–12 equal pieces, and shape into balls. Arrange them in a greased baking pan.
  6. Second Rise:
Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes, until puffy.
  7. Bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush tops with a little milk or egg wash. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve:
Let cool slightly, then enjoy warm! These rolls are soft, fluffy, and perfect with butter or jam.
