Ingredients
- Fresh eggs (as many as you need)
- Water
- Salt (optional)
Instructions
- Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with cold water.
- Add a pinch of salt if desired (this can help prevent cracking and makes peeling easier).
- Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat slightly and cook for:
- Soft-boiled: 4–6 minutes
- Medium-boiled: 7–9 minutes
- Hard-boiled: 10–12 minutes
- When done, immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water or run under cold water for a few minutes to stop the cooking process.
- Let them sit for at least 5–10 minutes before peeling.
- Enjoy plain, or season with a pinch of salt and pepper!
Tips:
- Older eggs are easier to peel than very fresh ones.
- Store boiled eggs in the fridge for up to one week.
- Boiled eggs are a great source of protein and nutrients like choline and vitamin D.
