Ingredients:
- Eggs (as many as you want to boil)
- Water
- Salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Place eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water.
- Add a pinch of salt if desired (helps prevent cracking).
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer:
- Soft-boiled eggs: 4–6 minutes
- Medium-boiled eggs: 7–9 minutes
- Hard-boiled eggs: 10–12 minutes
- Remove the eggs from hot water and immediately place them in ice-cold water for 5–10 minutes to stop cooking.
- Peel and enjoy!
Tips:
- Green ring around yolk: This happens when eggs are overcooked. It’s safe to eat, but the yolk may taste slightly sulfurous.
- To avoid the green ring, avoid boiling eggs for too long and cool them quickly in cold water.
- Fresh eggs are harder to peel, so older eggs work better for boiling.
- Add a teaspoon of vinegar to the water to make peeling easier.
