Description:
This soft, airy, and fluffy bread is perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or just enjoying with butter and jam. I tried it for the first time and sent it to the person who recommended it — they loved it!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- 1 egg (optional, for brushing)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and butter. Knead into a soft dough for 8–10 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf or rolls, and place in a greased baking pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the top with a beaten egg for a shiny crust (optional).
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before slicing.
Tips:
- Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
- Kneading well ensures a soft, fluffy texture.
- For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla or a pinch of powdered milk.
- Don’t skip the second rise — it makes the bread extra airy.
