Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp instant dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- ¼ cup warm water
- ¼ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 egg (room temperature)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the dough: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, oil, and egg. Stir to combine into a soft dough.
- Knead: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
- First rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape: Punch down the dough. Shape it into a loaf or divide into rolls. Place in a greased loaf pan or on a baking tray.
- Second rise: Cover again and let it rise for another 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
