Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- 1 egg
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm milk. Sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the egg, softened butter, and the yeast mixture.
- Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1½ hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, then shape it into a loaf or divide it into rolls.
- Place in a greased loaf pan or baking tray. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy the soft, fluffy bread!
