Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and oil (or melted butter).
- Stir with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough forms. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough to release air. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan or shape it free-form and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover again and let it rise for another 30–45 minutes until puffy. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Let the bread cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy your super fluffy homemade bread!
