I Learned How to Make This Bread — It Rises a Lot and Is Very Fluffy

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and oil (or melted butter).
  3. Stir with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough forms. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough to release air. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan or shape it free-form and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Cover again and let it rise for another 30–45 minutes until puffy. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  8. Let the bread cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy your super fluffy homemade bread!
