Ingredients
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 ¼ cups (300ml) warm water
- 1 tbsp oil (optional, for softer texture)
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. - Add Water:
Pour in the warm water and mix with a spoon or spatula until a shaggy dough forms. The dough will be sticky—this is normal. - Let it Rise:
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it rise at room temperature for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. - Shape the Dough:
Lightly flour your hands and a clean surface. Scrape the dough onto the surface and gently shape it into a round or oval loaf. No kneading needed—just fold it a few times to tighten the shape. - Second Rise (Optional but better):
Place the shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking tray or in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rest for another 20–30 minutes. - Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F) during the second rise. - Bake:
Place the dough in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown on top and it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. - Cool:
Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
