Honey Butter Skillet Corn Recipe

This sweet and savory side dish is incredibly easy to make and bursting with flavor. Fresh or frozen corn kernels are cooked in a skillet with butter, honey, and a touch of cream, creating a creamy, caramelized corn that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels (if using frozen, thaw and drain)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: A pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for a little heat
  • Optional: Fresh parsley or chives, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Melt Butter: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add Corn: Add the corn kernels to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the corn is heated through and slightly tender.
  3. Add Honey: Drizzle the honey over the corn and stir to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the honey to caramelize slightly.
  4. Add Cream: Pour the heavy cream (or half-and-half) into the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the corn.
  5. Season: Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley or chives, if desired. Serve immediately.

Tips and Notes:

  • Fresh vs. Frozen Corn: Fresh corn on the cob can be used. Just cut the kernels off the cob before cooking.
  • Caramelization: Don’t skip the step of caramelizing the honey slightly. It adds a depth of flavor to the dish.
  • Cream Variations: You can use half-and-half or milk instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
  • Add-ins: Consider adding other ingredients like diced red bell pepper, minced garlic, or a squeeze of lemon juice for added flavor.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
