Homemade Whipped Cream Recipe

This recipe creates light and fluffy whipped cream that’s perfect for topping desserts like cakes, pies, and ice cream.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream (cold)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Chill: Make sure your mixing bowl and beaters are ice-cold. You can chill them in the freezer for about 15 minutes before you start.
  2. Combine: In a chilled bowl, combine the heavy cream, sugar (if using), and vanilla extract.  
  3. Whip: Begin whipping the cream on medium speed with an electric mixer.
  4. Increase Speed: Gradually increase the speed to high and continue whipping until the cream forms stiff peaks. This usually takes 5-7 minutes. Stiff peaks mean that when you lift the beaters, the cream holds its shape in a firm peak.  
  5. Use Immediately: Use the whipped cream immediately or cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

Tips and Variations:

  • For extra sweetness: Add a pinch of salt to the cream before whipping.
  • Flavored Whipped Cream: Add a teaspoon of your favorite flavoring to the cream, such as cocoa powder, instant coffee, or almond extract.
  • Stabilize: For longer storage, fold in 1 tablespoon of confectioners’ sugar per cup of whipped cream. This will help it hold its shape better.
