Ingredients
- 1 cup grated castile soap (or natural unscented soap bar)
- 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 10–15 drops of essential oil (optional — lemon, tea tree, or lavender for fragrance and added cleaning power)
Instructions
- Grate the castile soap finely using a box grater or food processor.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in the hot water.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the grated soap and the baking soda water mixture. Stir until the soap begins to melt.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vinegar (slowly — it may fizz slightly).
- Add essential oils if using, and stir until everything is well combined.
- Pour the mixture into silicone molds or a repurposed soap mold.
- Let sit at room temperature for 24–48 hours to harden.
- Once hardened, remove from molds and store in a cool, dry place.
🧽 To Use:
- For cleaning: Use directly on countertops, tiles, or sinks.
- For laundry: Grate a small amount into the wash for extra freshening.
⚠️ Note: This is a cleaning soap — not suitable for use on skin due to the neutralizing effect and possible irritation from vinegar and soda.
