Homemade Vinegar and Baking Soda Soap

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (approx. 250g) melt-and-pour glycerin soap base (clear or white)
  • 1 tbsp baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
  • 2 tsp white distilled vinegar
  • 10–15 drops of essential oil (optional – lemon, lavender, or tea tree work well)
  • Silicone soap mold

Instructions

  1. 🥣 Melt the Soap Base:
    • Cut the soap base into small chunks.
    • Place in a microwave-safe bowl or use a double boiler.
    • Heat until fully melted, stirring every 30 seconds if using the microwave.
  2. 🧂 Add Baking Soda:
    • Stir in 1 tablespoon of baking soda thoroughly until no lumps remain.
  3. 🍋 Add Vinegar:
    • Slowly add 2 teaspoons of white vinegar while stirring. It may fizz slightly—this is normal. Mix until smooth.
  4. 🌸 Add Essential Oils (Optional):
    • Mix in 10–15 drops of your chosen essential oil for added fragrance and antibacterial properties.
  5. 🧊 Pour into Molds:
    • Pour the mixture into silicone soap molds.
    • Tap the molds gently to release air bubbles.
  6. ❄️ Let Set:
    • Allow the soap to cool and harden at room temperature (about 1–2 hours) or refrigerate for faster setting.
  7. 🧼 Unmold and Use:
    • Remove from molds and store in a dry, cool place.
    • Use it to scrub sinks, tubs, or hands after heavy-duty cleaning.

📝 Notes:

  • Avoid using metal bowls when mixing vinegar and baking soda.
  • This soap is more for cleaning purposes than skincare, as baking soda and vinegar can be drying to the skin.
