Homemade Vinegar and Baking Soda Cleaning Soap

Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
  • ½ cup white distilled vinegar
  • ½ cup liquid Castile soap (unscented or scented as preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickness)
  • 10 drops essential oil (optional – lemon, tea tree, or lavender work well)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda and cornstarch.
  2. Slowly add the vinegar. It will fizz — stir gently until the reaction settles.
  3. Mix in the liquid Castile soap and stir until smooth.
  4. Add essential oils, if using, and mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a pump bottle or jar for storage.
  6. Let sit uncovered for a few hours to allow any remaining fizz to dissipate.

Usage:

  • Apply with a sponge for cleaning sinks, countertops, or tubs.
  • Rinse with water afterward.

🧴 Note: This soap is great for cleaning, but not recommended for skin due to the vinegar-soda reaction altering pH.
