Homemade Pizza Night!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.)
  • Dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough:
    • In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
    • Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  2. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  3. Shape the dough:
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions for two pizzas (or keep it as one large pizza). Roll each portion out into a round shape on a floured surface, about 12 inches in diameter.
  4. Assemble the pizza:
    • Transfer the pizza dough to a greased baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Add your favorite toppings.
  5. Bake the pizza:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and enjoy your homemade pizza night!

Optional: Sprinkle with a little oregano or Italian seasoning for extra flavor!
