Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Sauce:

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Toppings:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices, cooked sausage, bell peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms, or your favorite toppings

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until the dough starts to come together.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 10 minutes to blend the flavors. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats for a crispy crust.
  4. Assemble the Pizzas:
    • Punch down the dough and divide it into two or more portions, depending on how many pizzas you’re making.
    • Roll out each portion on a floured surface into your desired shape and thickness.
    • Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
    • Spread a layer of sauce on the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese and add your favorite toppings.
  5. Bake the Pizza:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve with a side of garlic bread or a fresh salad. Enjoy your homemade pizza night!
