Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, or walnuts)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine butter, sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Cook the Toffee: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches the hard-crack stage (290°F or 143°C) on a candy thermometer.
- Add Nuts: Quickly stir in the chopped nuts.
- Pour into Pan: Pour the toffee mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Cool and Break: Let the toffee cool completely, then break into pieces.
