INGREDENT
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ½ cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)
- ¼ cup warm water (110°F / 45°C)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- Oil for frying
Optional for topping:
- ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
- ½ cup granulated sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon (for coating)
- Chocolate glaze or icing
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, warm milk, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the egg, softened butter, and yeast mixture. Mix until dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough to about ½ inch thick. Cut donuts using a donut cutter (or a round cutter + small cutter for holes).
- Place cut donuts on a floured tray, cover lightly, and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Coat with cinnamon sugar, dust with powdered sugar, or dip in glaze.
