Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Scoop the batter evenly into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
