Homemade Creamy Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

(Optional mix-ins: chocolate chips, crushed cookies, fruit, nuts, etc.)


Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients:
    In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Chill the Mixture:
    Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Churn the Ice Cream:
    Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20–25 minutes), until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  4. Add Mix-ins (Optional):
    During the last 5 minutes of churning, add in any desired mix-ins like chocolate chips, fruit, or cookie pieces.
  5. Freeze Until Firm:
    Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container. Freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  6. Serve & Enjoy:
