Ingredients
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups whole milk (or heavy cream for richer sauce)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- ½ tsp salt (to taste)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter (or heat olive oil).
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly to form a smooth paste (roux).
- Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese (if using) until melted and smooth.
- Season with salt, pepper, and herbs of your choice.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
This creamy garlic sauce is perfect for pasta, pizza, grilled chicken, or as a dipping sauce.
Would you like me to make this thick like Alfredo or lighter like a dipping sauce?
