Homemade Creamy Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk (or heavy cream for richer sauce)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt (to taste)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter (or heat olive oil).
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly to form a smooth paste (roux).
  4. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese (if using) until melted and smooth.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs of your choice.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

This creamy garlic sauce is perfect for pasta, pizza, grilled chicken, or as a dipping sauce.

Would you like me to make this thick like Alfredo or lighter like a dipping sauce?
