- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half for richer sauce)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes or chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant (don’t let it brown).
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook and stir until the sauce thickens, about 3–5 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and continue cooking until melted and smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve warm over pasta, chicken, vegetables, or as a dipping sauce.
