Ingredients
- 4 cups (500g) all-purpose or bread flour
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
- 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar or honey
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast – In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar (or honey), and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Mix the Dough – In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough – Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise – Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Bread – Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet. Cover and let it rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool and Enjoy – Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
