Homemade Apple Fritters Recipe

These fluffy fritters are packed with sweet apple flavor and perfect for a warm breakfast or a sweet afternoon snack.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  2. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  3. Prep the apples: In a medium bowl, toss the diced apples with the sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Fold in apples: Gently fold the apples into the batter.
  5. Heat the oil: Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
  6. Fry the fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, working in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.  
  7. Drain and serve: Remove the fritters from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
