Ingredients
- 1 liter (4 cups) whole milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 2 tablespoons plain yogurt with live active cultures (as a starter)
Instructions
- Pour the milk into a large pot and heat it over medium heat until it reaches about 180°F (82°C). Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the milk cool down to about 110°F (43°C).
- Once cooled, add the 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt to a small bowl. Add a few spoonfuls of the warm milk and mix until smooth.
- Pour this yogurt mixture back into the pot of warm milk and stir gently to combine.
- Cover the pot with a lid or clean towel. Keep it in a warm place (like an oven with the light on or wrapped in a towel) for 6–12 hours, or until it sets and thickens.
- Once the yogurt is set, refrigerate it for a few hours before serving.
- Enjoy your homemade yogurt as is, or use it in recipes, smoothies, or with fruits and honey!
