Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish

Ingredients

  • 1 package King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (12 rolls)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup fruit preserves or pie filling (e.g., cherry, blueberry, strawberry – optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional: zest of 1 lemon for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, egg yolk, and lemon zest (if using) until smooth and creamy.
  3. Prepare the rolls:
    • Carefully separate each Hawaiian roll.
    • Gently flatten the top center with the back of a spoon or your fingers to create a shallow well in each.
  4. Fill each roll:
    • Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each roll.
    • Top with 1 teaspoon of fruit preserves or pie filling (if using).
  5. Egg wash: Beat the whole egg and lightly brush the edges of the rolls for a golden finish.
  6. Bake: Place the filled rolls on the baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheesecake filling is set.
  7. Cool & dust: Let them cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

😋 Tip:

These are best enjoyed warm, but you can refrigerate leftovers and reheat gently before serving.
