Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Make the Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well incorporated. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.
- Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the hamburger patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes until they soften and become golden brown.
- Thicken the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the onions and cook for another minute, stirring to coat the onions. Slowly add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce while stirring to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Combine and Serve: Return the hamburger patties to the skillet with the gravy. Let them simmer in the gravy for another 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve the hamburger steaks with onion gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish.
