Ham and Cheese Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Cooking oil (for frying or baking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced ham, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, breadcrumbs, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Form the bites: Scoop small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls or shape them into small, bite-sized discs.
  3. Prepare for cooking: Beat the egg in a small bowl. Dip each ham and cheese bite into the egg wash and then coat with breadcrumbs for an extra crunchy exterior.
  4. Cook the bites: You can either fry or bake the bites:
    • For frying: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the bites in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
    • For baking: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  5. Serve: Let the bites cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce (such as honey mustard or ranch).

Enjoy your crispy, cheesy ham and cheese bites!
