Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked ham, diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Cooking oil (for frying or baking)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced ham, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, breadcrumbs, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Form the bites: Scoop small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls or shape them into small, bite-sized discs.
- Prepare for cooking: Beat the egg in a small bowl. Dip each ham and cheese bite into the egg wash and then coat with breadcrumbs for an extra crunchy exterior.
- Cook the bites: You can either fry or bake the bites:
- For frying: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the bites in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- For baking: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Let the bites cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce (such as honey mustard or ranch).
Enjoy your crispy, cheesy ham and cheese bites!
