Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)
- 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For Mashed Potatoes:
- 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup milk (warm)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Make the Mashed Potatoes:
- Boil potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15–20 minutes.
- Drain and mash with butter and warm milk. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Cook the Beef:
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Make the Gravy:
- Push beef to the side of the skillet. Add butter to the empty space.
- Stir in flour, cooking for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Stir everything together, add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Serve:
- Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates, top with ground beef & gravy.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
