Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

A quick and easy recipe for a delicious and comforting grilled cheese sandwich.

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (your favorite type – sourdough, white, rye, etc.)
  • 1-2 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, Monterey Jack, provolone, or a combination)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (or your preferred cooking oil)
  • Optional additions:
    • Sliced tomato
    • Sliced onion
    • Sliced avocado
    • Sprouts
    • Ham
    • Bacon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the bread: If using butter, spread one side of each slice of bread with butter.
  2. Add cheese: Place cheese slices on one slice of bread.
  3. Add optional ingredients: If using, layer on your chosen vegetables, meats, or other toppings.
  4. Assemble: Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side out.
  5. Cook:
    • Skillet method: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook the sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.  
    • Panini press method: If using a panini press, cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. Serve: Cut the sandwich in half and enjoy immediately.
