Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts (or thighs, bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken
    • Pat chicken dry with a paper towel.
    • Rub olive oil over the chicken.
  2. Season
    • Mix garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Sprinkle seasoning evenly over the chicken.
  3. Preheat the Grill
    • Heat grill to medium-high (about 375–400°F / 190–200°C).
    • Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the Chicken
    • Place chicken on the grill.
    • Cook 6–7 minutes per side for boneless, or 8–10 minutes for bone-in (until internal temperature reaches 165°F / 74°C).
  5. Add BBQ Sauce
    • During the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush BBQ sauce over the chicken.
    • Flip once and brush the other side, letting it caramelize slightly.
  6. Rest and Serve
    • Remove chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
    • Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
