Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk or any milk of your choice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Whipped cream (for garnish, optional)
- Dark chocolate shavings (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, cocoa powder, matcha powder, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is warm, but not boiling, stirring constantly to ensure everything dissolves smoothly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and cornstarch together until well combined.
- Gradually add about 1/2 cup of the warm milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs. Once combined, slowly pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan with the rest of the milk mixture.
- Continue to cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the pudding thickens and begins to bubble (around 5-7 minutes).
- Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the pudding into serving bowls or glasses, then cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly on the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours, or until fully set.
- Before serving, garnish with whipped cream and dark chocolate shavings, if desired.
Enjoy your creamy and flavorful green tea chocolate pudding!
