Ingredients:

For the mashed potatoes:

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the mashed potatoes:
    • Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15-20 minutes).
    • Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Cook the meat filling:
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
    • Add the ground meat and cook until browned.
    • Stir in the tomato sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Assemble the gratin:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish.
    • Layer the mashed potatoes on top, smoothing the surface.
    • Sprinkle grated cheese over the mashed potatoes.
