Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft — don’t overbake to keep them gooey!
