- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, chopped walnuts, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, oil, vanilla extract, and buttermilk.
- Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with a simple glaze before serving.
