Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 3 medium apples (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (white or brown)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Icing sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, cornflour, and vanilla. Toss well.
  3. Roll out puff pastry and place one sheet on the baking tray.
  4. Spread apple mixture evenly, leaving 1-inch border.
  5. Cover with second puff pastry sheet and seal edges gently.
  6. Brush top with egg mixed with milk.
  7. Make small cuts on top for steam to escape.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and crispy.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  10. Dust with icing sugar before serving (optional).

Tips:

  • Use Granny Smith or Fuji apples for best flavor.
  • Chill pastry for 10 minutes before baking for extra crispiness.
  • Add chopped nuts or raisins for extra texture.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or custard.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight box for up to 2 days.
