Golden Baked Cake Recipe

A classic, buttery yellow cake with a tender crumb and golden hue, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Dry Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add Eggs and Vanilla: * Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  1. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  2. Bake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s).
    • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Cool:
    • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Frost (Optional):
    • Once the cake has fully cooled, frost with your favorite frosting. A simple vanilla buttercream or chocolate frosting works wonderfully.
