Golden Apple Fritters Recipe

These delightful fritters are crispy on the outside and soft and apple-y on the inside. A perfect treat for a fall afternoon!

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and sugar until well combined.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, whisking constantly until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Fold in Apples: Gently fold the diced apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
  5. Heat Oil: Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
  6. Fry Fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Drain and Serve: Remove the fritters from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips & Variations:

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of ground cardamom or cloves to the batter.
  • To make these fritters even more decadent, add a handful of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
  • You can also use other types of apples, such as Gala or Fuji.
  • For a healthier option, try baking the fritters in a muffin tin at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Enjoy your delicious Golden Apple Fritters!
