Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add the warm water and oil, then mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let it cool before slicing. Enjoy your soft, spongy bread!
