Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 (12 oz) bottle of beer (room temperature, any kind you like)
- 4 tablespoons melted butter (divided)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and garlic powder.
- Add cheese: Stir in the shredded cheddar until evenly coated with flour mixture.
- Pour in beer: Add the beer and stir until just combined. Do not overmix—the batter will be lumpy and thick.
- Add to pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.
- Top with butter: Pour 2 tablespoons of melted butter over the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Brush with more butter: Immediately after baking, brush the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter over the warm bread for extra flavor.
- Cool and serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!
