Ingredients:

  • For the Lobster:
    • 1 (1.5-2 lb) live lobster
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Scallops:
    • 1 pound sea scallops, cleaned and patted dry
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Garlic Butter Sauce:
    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/4 cup dry white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc)
    • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Lobster:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
    • Carefully drop the live lobster into the boiling water.
    • Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the lobster is bright red and the shell turns slightly orange.
    • Remove the lobster from the pot and let it cool slightly.
    • Once cool enough to handle, cut the lobster in half lengthwise.
    • Remove the meat from the shells and cut into bite-sized pieces.
    • Toss the lobster meat with melted butter, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cook the Scallops:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Season the scallops with salt and pepper.
    • Cook the scallops for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Remove the scallops from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
    • Pour in the white wine and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has reduced slightly.
    • Stir in the parsley, lemon juice, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.
  4. Combine and Serve:
    • Return the cooked lobster and scallops to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce.
    • Toss to coat evenly.
    • Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley (if desired).

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the lobster while cooking.
  • Serve this dish with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
  • You can substitute shrimp for the scallops, or use a combination of both.
