Ingredients
- 2 lbs crab legs (king or snow crab)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 4–5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Prep the Crab Legs:
If the crab legs are frozen, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator or run them under cool water until defrosted. - Steam or Boil the Crab Legs:
Fill a large pot with a couple of inches of water. Place a steamer basket in the pot and bring the water to a boil. Add crab legs, cover, and steam for about 5–7 minutes until heated through. - Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant (but not browned). Stir in lemon juice, lemon zest (if using), parsley, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. - Coat the Crab Legs:
Transfer steamed crab legs to a large bowl or platter. Drizzle the garlic butter over the crab legs, tossing gently to coat evenly. - Serve:
Serve immediately with lemon wedges and any extra garlic butter sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy with crusty bread or corn on the cob if desired.
