Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 6-8 strips of bacon
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- 1 tube of crescent roll dough (or puff pastry)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Optional: 1/2 tsp paprika or chili flakes for extra flavor
- Optional: pickles, diced onions, or sautéed mushrooms for filling
Instructions:
- Cook the bacon:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Once cooled, chop into small pieces.
- Cook the beef:
- In the same skillet, add minced garlic and ground beef. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Prepare the dough:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out crescent dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Assemble the rollups:
- Spread cooked beef evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle chopped bacon and shredded cheese on top.
- Add optional fillings like pickles or sautéed onions.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, pinch edges to seal, and cut into 1-2 inch pieces.
- Add garlic butter topping:
- Mix melted butter with a little extra minced garlic. Brush generously over the tops of the rollups.
- Bake:
- Place rollups on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Serve hot:
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then enjoy your ultimate cheesy snack!
Tips:
- For extra cheesiness, add a cheese slice inside each rollup before rolling.
- Use pre-cooked bacon to save time.
- You can make these ahead of time and freeze unbaked. Bake straight from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to baking time.
- Serve with ketchup, mustard, or a garlic aioli for dipping.
- Adjust seasoning to your taste – smoked paprika adds a nice smoky flavor.
