Ingredients
- 2 lbs pork ribs, cut into serving sizes
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup water or stock
- 2 tbsp sugar (optional, for a sweeter glaze)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Spring onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pork Ribs:
Clean the pork ribs under running water and pat dry with a paper towel. Season lightly with salt and pepper. - Sear the Ribs:
Heat a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add a bit of oil and sear the ribs until lightly browned on all sides. Set aside. - Make the Sauce:
In the same pan, sauté garlic and onion until fragrant. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar (if using), and water or stock. Stir well to combine. - Simmer the Ribs:
Return the seared ribs to the pan and toss to coat them in the sauce. Lower the heat and cover. Let it simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the ribs are tender and the sauce has thickened. Add more water or stock if needed. - Adjust Seasoning:
Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed. You can add more sugar for sweetness or soy sauce for saltiness. - Finish and Serve:
Once the ribs are cooked and tender, transfer them to a serving plate. Garnish with sliced spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with steamed rice.
