Fries Potato Squares Marinated Recipe

This recipe offers a unique twist on classic French fries, transforming them into flavorful and crispy potato squares. The marinade adds a burst of flavor, making them a perfect side dish or appetizer.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes: 4 medium-sized potatoes (such as Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Onion Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili Powder: 1/4 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh Parsley: 1 tablespoon, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Wash and peel the potatoes.
    • Cut them into even-sized squares (about 1-inch).
  2. Make the Marinade:
    • In a large bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.
    • Stir well to ensure all the spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Marinate the Potatoes:
    • Add the potato squares to the marinade and toss to coat them completely.
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours) for the flavors to infuse.
  4. Bake or Fry:
    • Baking: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the marinated potato squares in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
    • Frying: Heat about 1 inch of oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Carefully add the potato squares in batches and fry for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
    • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup, mustard, or aioli.

Tips & Variations:

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • You can also use other vegetables like sweet potatoes or carrots for this recipe.
  • For a healthier option, bake the potato squares instead of frying them.
  • To make them spicier, add a jalapeño or serrano pepper to the marinade.
