Fried Cheese Sticks

INGREDENT

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups Italian-style bread crumbs (or plain + Italian seasoning)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cheese:
Cut cheese sticks in half for smaller portions (optional). Freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This prevents melting during frying.
  2. Set up breading stations:
    • In one bowl, mix flour with a pinch of salt and pepper.
    • In another bowl, whisk eggs with milk.
    • In a third bowl, mix bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  3. Coat the cheese:
    • Roll each frozen cheese stick in flour.
    • Dip into egg mixture.
    • Then coat with breadcrumbs.
    • For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb steps once more.
    • Place coated sticks back in freezer for 20 minutes.
  4. Fry the sticks:
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry 4–5 sticks at a time for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  5. Drain and serve:
Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara or ranch dipping sauce.
