INGREDENT
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups Italian-style bread crumbs (or plain + Italian seasoning)
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions
- Prepare the cheese:
Cut cheese sticks in half for smaller portions (optional). Freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This prevents melting during frying. - Set up breading stations:
- In one bowl, mix flour with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs with milk.
- In a third bowl, mix bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Coat the cheese:
- Roll each frozen cheese stick in flour.
- Dip into egg mixture.
- Then coat with breadcrumbs.
- For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb steps once more.
- Place coated sticks back in freezer for 20 minutes.
- Fry the sticks:
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry 4–5 sticks at a time for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan. - Drain and serve:
Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara or ranch dipping sauce.
