Ingredients
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter (optional, for extra richness)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to coat the cabbage in the bacon fat and onion mixture.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and lightly caramelized. If using, add the butter halfway through cooking for extra flavor.
- Stir the crispy bacon back into the cabbage. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Serve warm as a side dish or enjoy it on its own!
