Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic – Don’t LOSE this Recipe!

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium head of cabbage, cored and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Leave about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic: Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Cook the cabbage: Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring well to coat with the bacon grease. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Sauté until tender: Cook for about 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but not mushy. Add the butter for extra flavor, if desired.
  5. Finish with bacon: Stir the crispy bacon back into the pan, mix well, and cook for another minute.
  6. Serve hot: Enjoy as a side dish or a hearty main meal!
