Ingredients
For Aloe Vera Gel
- 2–3 fresh aloe vera leaves
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional, for added nourishment & shelf life)
- A few drops of essential oil (lavender, tea tree, or rosemary – optional)
For Aloe Vera Soap
- 1 cup (about 250 ml) of your aloe vera gel (prepared above)
- 450 g (1 lb) unscented melt-and-pour soap base (glycerin or goat’s milk base)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional for extra moisture)
- 10–15 drops essential oil (optional for fragrance)
Instructions
Aloe Vera Gel
- Cut the aloe vera leaves and wash them. Let them sit upright for 10–15 minutes to drain the yellow resin (aloin) which can be irritating.
- Slice the edges off, peel away the skin, and scoop out the clear gel into a bowl.
- Blend the gel until smooth.
- Add vitamin E oil and essential oil if desired. Mix well.
- Pour into a clean, airtight jar and store in the refrigerator (lasts 1–2 weeks).
Aloe Vera Soap
- Cut the soap base into small cubes and melt it in a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals until fully liquid.
- Once melted, stir in your fresh aloe vera gel, coconut oil, and essential oil. Mix gently but thoroughly.
- Pour the mixture into soap molds.
- Let it cool and harden completely (about 3–4 hours at room temperature or 1 hour in the fridge).
- Unmold and store in a dry place.
Would you like me to add storage tips and shelf-life for both the gel and soap as well? (It helps people know how long they can safely use them.)
